Day 1
UK

Fly from the UK on indirect flights to China.

Day 2
Kunming

Arrive in Kunming this evening and stay for two nights at the Green Lake hotel.

Day 3
Shillin Stone Forest

Today take a full day visit to the Shilin Stone Forest, Kunming. A popular destination, your guide will lead you to a quitter area, away from the crowds, to get lost in this maze of rock formations.

Day 4
Kunming, Dali

In the morning visit Bamboo Temple and the Western Hill before taking an afternoon flight to Dali. Stay at the Landscape Hotel for two nights.

Day 5
Dali

Visit the Bai ethnic minority village and Three Pagodas today. The remainder of your day is at leisure – a great chance to make your own way around the ancient town or visit Erhai Lake.

Day 6
Lijiang

A three-hour drive today will bring you to Lijiang and here you will stay in the popular Ancient Town for two nights at Wang Fu Hotel. After checking in, explore the old town and Black Dragon pool with a guide.

Day 7
Lijiang

This morning, head to Shuhe and Baisha villages to either walk or cycle around. Both of these villages are a short drive from Lijiang but offer a more intimate and quiet town to explore. A basic lunch is included.

Day 8
Shangri-La

An early start to drive to Shangri-La (3200m). You will go via the impressive Tiger Leaping Gorge where you can climb down to the viewing platform and learn about how the gorge got its name. Drive on to Shangri La and check in to the Zhaxidele Hotel for two nights.

Day 9
Shangri-La

This morning head to Songzanlin Monastery, where over 900 monks live and also visit the ancient town for lunch. Parts of Shangri-La's old town was recently destroyed in a fire and unfortunately only about one-third of it remains. Rest of your day is at leisure.

Day 10
Zedang

Take a morning flight to Lhasa Airport today. On arrival you will be driven to Zedang ( 3,100 metres ) to stay for two nights at Tsedang Hotel.

Day 11
Zedang

Zedang is known as 'The Cradle of the Tibetans'. Visit Samya Monastery which was built in the 7th century as well as Yumbulakang Palace and Trundruk Monastery.

Day 12
Gyangtse

An early start today. Drive from Zedang to Yandrok Lake (4-5 hours) and then onto Gyangtse. Stay at The Yeti Hotel Gyantse for two nights.

Day 13
Gyangtse

Today visit Gyangtse Old Street, Palkhor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa and take a view of Dzong Fortress.

Day 14
Shigtase

Drive from Gyangtse to Shigtase (2 hours) and visit Sakya Monastery. The remainder of your day is at leisure.Stay at Tashi Choten Hotel for two nights.

Day 15
Shigtase

This morning visit Tashihunpo Monastery, built in 1447. The rest of your day is at leisure.

Day 16
Lhasa

A long drive or fast train (depending on availability) today to Lhasa. Evening at leisure. Stay at Tibet Gorkha Hotel for three nights.

Day 17
Lhasa

Enjoy a tour of Lhasa today. This will include the Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery and the Tibet Museum.

Day 18
Lhasa

Enjoy another full day tour of Lhasa today. This will include the Potala Palace - winter palace of the Dalai Lama, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor - the bustling Lhasa market encircling the Jokhang temple.

Day 19
Baiyun

Fly from Lhasa to Baiyun where you can make your way (walking distance) to Pullman Baiyun Airport Hotel for the night.

Day 20
UK

This morning, make your way back to the airport for your flight to the UK.
