Beijing, the enthralling capital city of China, is your first stop on our China Experience tour. Visit Tian An Men Square and the Great Wall of China. Take a day train to Xi’an to explore the bustling Muslim Quarter and to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Museum of Horses. See the Giant Pandas and Wen Shu Temple in Chengdu.

Visit Guilin, a city situated in the northeast of Guangxi prefecture, known for its unique Karst topography and the stunning landscape of Elephant Trunk Hill and Seven Star Park.  Take a cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo to tour the Moon Hill. Also visit the historical Xinping fishing village to see expert cormorant fishermen at work afloat bamboo rafts. The tour ends in the contrastingly vibrant city of Shanghai.

Suggested itinerary

Day 1
Beijing

On arrival in Beijing, transfer to King Parkview Hotel (Mar-Apr 2020 Howard Johnson Paragon hotel) or similar for three nights.

Day 2
Beijing

Start the day off at Tian An Men Square, before spending a few hours exploring the magnificent Forbidden City with your guide. Afternoon visit to see the pavilions, prayer halls and gardens of the Summer Palace, built for the Emperors to escape the summer heat. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner of Peking Duck.Optional excursion: Kung Fu show

Day 3
Beijing

Visit the Temple of Heaven which comes alive each morning when elderly locals gather to practice Tai Chi. In the afternoon, drive out to see the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, one of the most iconic sights in Asia.

Day 4
Beijing - Xi'an

Take a high-speed train to Xi'an this morning (5-6 hours). On arrival, check-in to the Mercure Xian on Renmin Square (Mar-Apr 2020 the Grand Dynasty Culture hotel) or similar for two nights. In the afternoon, visit the sights of Xi'an, including the Big Goose Pagoda, Great Mosque and the bustling Muslim Quarter.

Day 5
Xi'an

Start off the day with the amazing Terracotta Warriors and Museum of Horses, learning about the history of this incredible archaeological treasure from your guide. Explore Xian city wall in the afternoon, the most complete ancient city wall to survive in China. Enjoy a dumpling dinner banquet.

Day 6
Xi'an - Chengdu

This morning take a short flight to Chengdu. Stay at the Tianfu Sunshine hotel or similar for two nights. Later, visit Leshan Big Buddha and take a boat ride on the river.

Day 7
Chengdu

Visit the Panda Breeding Centre in the morning, followed by a very special vegetarian lunch at the Wen Shu Temple. Later on, walk along the famous Jin Li Street and explore the city on your own in the evening. Optional excursion: Sichuan opera performance.

Day 8
Chengdu - Guilin

Fly to Guilin in the morning. Stay overnight at the Holiday Inn Express Guilin (Mar-Apr 2020 Guilin Universal hotel) or similar. Afternoon at leisure to explore the town on your own to discover its beautiful landscapes and 4000 year old history. The region is most famous for its cormorant fishermen. Optional excursion: Guilin Art museum tour.

Day 9
Guilin - Yangshuo

This morning, cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo. Lunch arranged on the cruise. Check into Yangshuo New Century hotel or similar for two nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 10
Yangshuo

Explore the countryside around Yangshuo including the picturesque Moon Hill, a crop of Ming-era houses and bustling markets where you can stock up on souvenirs. Join a cooking class in the evening. Later, enjoy a bamboo raft ride on the Yulong River to visit the Xinping fishing village.

Day 11
Yangshuo - Guili - Shanghai

Drive back to Guilin for your flight to Shanghai. Stay in the heart of the city at the Greenland Jiulong Hotel (Mar-Apr 2020 Bund hotel) or similar for two nights. The remainder of the day is at leisure for exploring Shanghai at your own pace and for a spot of shopping.

Day 12
Shanghai

Early morning enjoy a leisurely walk along the famous ‘Bund’ and see local people taking their morning excercise. Afterwards, visit the Yu Garden and the World Financial Centre. In the evening enjoy a performance by Chinese acrobats.

Day 13
Shanghai

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
