Whilst most travellers visit Chiang Mai in Thailand's north, this off the beaten track holiday heads north east to the little-visited northeastern province of Isaan to experience its superbly sited Khmer temples, national parks and beautiful Mekong Valley, pausing at the ruined former capital of Ayutthaya en route.
