Leafy, green and mountainous with spectacular beaches, Phu Quoc Island is one of Vietnam's best-kept secrets. Lying in the Gulf of Thailand just south of Cambodia, it is Vietnam's largest island and an ideal spot to relax away from the tourist crowds in some of the finest resorts in all of Vietnam.
Indeed, while gradually becoming more popular among tourists, Phu Quoc is still something of a hidden gem and makes for a wonderfully relaxing addition to any tour of Vietnam. Come here to discover the tranquil beaches of Cua Can and Ong Lan, to explore Phu Quoc National Park - a protected area that covers much of the island - and enjoy a spot of scuba diving, snorkelling or kayaking in its crystal-clear waters. For the hikers among you, there is a fabulous viewpoint atop a challenging 40 minute mountain trek through the jungles of the south east Phu Quoc.
Alternatively, hop on a bike to explore the backroads or the villages around Cua Can beach, or unwind with a massage and a delicious dish of fresh seafood.
