At the heart of the island, Cinnamon Lodge is set beside a shimmering lake amid 24 acres of beautifully kept gardens. It’s a modern property, but the architecture takes its cue from Dutch colonial mansions and has lots of character, with red-tiled roofs that slope to whitewashed, pillared verandahs.
The rooms and suites are spacious and cool. Large picture windows open on to idyllic views of the grounds, framed by tropical trees. There’s a large outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa, but we love just lounging on our balcony enjoying all the exotic birds and butterflies passing through.
