Roop

Regional Sales Manager

With a wealth of first-hand knowledge of Asia’s most captivating destinations, Roop Kumar brings both passion and precision to his role as Regional Sales Manager at TransIndus. Years spent flying across continents and working in the travel industry have given him an instinctive feel for what transforms a holiday into a truly memorable journey. His approach is highly consultative and personal — taking the time to understand what excites each traveller, whether it’s sacred temples, vibrant festivals, remote landscapes, or authentic cultural encounters. Backed by a deep knowledge of our extensive portfolio, he guides clients with clarity and confidence, ensuring every journey is both meaningful and unforgettable.

Born and raised in Bombay to Indian and Iranian parents, Roop grew up immersed in multiple cultures and languages — and still affectionately calls his city of birth “Bombay.” His career in travel began in the skies, as cabin crew for American Airlines, Saudia, and Qatar Airways, living in places as varied as Amsterdam and the then little-visited Jeddah. He recalls with fondness the frankincense-scented souks and late-night barbecues along the Red Sea, in days when tourists were few and life retained its Bedouin simplicity.

Insider’s Tip

“Skip the 5-star restaurants and try street food for a true taste of the place. In Bombay, you can even enjoy ‘street food’ in restaurants to avoid tummy troubles. For the adventurous, the kulfi vendors in Bandra and the stall behind the stock exchange — both cleared by health authorities — are local legends.”

Favourite Experiences

Roop finds it impossible to choose just one. Watching the tiny blue penguins waddle ashore on Kangaroo Island, taking in the views from atop Sydney Harbour Bridge, and climbing Sarangkot in Pokhara to see the majestic Fishtail Mountain are all etched in his memory.

Favourite Places

From the ancient streets of Rome, where history whispers at every turn, to the dazzling buzz of Las Vegas, Roop embraces contrast. “Rome is civilisation’s great cradle; Vegas is pure energy and fun. I love them both.”

Favourite Hotel

Kumarakom Lake Resort in Kerala, India, wins his vote for its meandering pool, serene lakeside setting, and the joy of stepping straight from your bedroom into the water at sunrise. “A morning swim followed by an open-air shower in your own private garden of water lilies and banana palms — bliss.”
