Savour the bucolic landscapes of mainland Malaysian, Thailand & singapore on one of the world’s great luxury train journeys. Striking the perfect balance between stylish leisure and inspiration, Belmond’s Eastern & Orient Express offers a unique experience of this scenic and culturally fascinating region – a journey reminiscent of bygone eras, but with a few extra modern comforts.
The classic E&O itinerary is a 2-night trip from Singapore to Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur. It begins in high style with a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel. From there, you transfer to the station to board the E&O Express for the start of your 1,255-mile (2,010-km) odyssey, which heads up Malaysia’s west coast to Penang, via a sidetrip to Georgetown. Late morning on the third day brings you to River Kwai Bridge Station for a visit to the evocative Burma-Thailand Railroad Museum, then it’s on to Bangkok for an arrival around sunset.
Life on board is a series of indulgences, from gourmet meals in classically furnished dining cars to cocktails in an open-air observation carriage. The en-suite cabins are all handsomely upholstered in fine fabrics and decorated with polished marquetry.
A journey on the Eastern & Orient Express can slot neatly into a range of different itineraries exploring different regions of Thailand or Malaysia. One of our specialist consultants will be glad to advise on the options.
