This is one of our very favourite coastal properties in India, as much for its superb location as its delightful traditional architecture. Spread over eight acres of lush grounds filled with towering coconut palms, the resort consists of antique wooden ‘nallukettu’ houses that have been dismantled and rebuilt on this sea facing cliff, complete with original rafters, gables and verandahs, but with modern comforts such as air-con. They’re cool, fragrant and full of charm, while the gardens teem with birdlife. Most enjoy ocean views. The churning surf of magnificent Chowara Beach is only a stone’s throw away – a sublime spot for a sunset stroll.
