Set amid landscaped gardens on the edge of the holy lakeside town of Pushkar, with the crags and ridges of the Aravallis as a backdrop, the property takes its name from the market garden tunnels where fragrant Dutch roses and soft fruit, including delicious strawberries, are miraculously coaxed from the mica-filled soil.
The tents themselves look plain at first sight, but are grand inside, with romantic canopied ceilings, marble-lined bathrooms (complete with walk-in showers) and wooden decks to lounge on if the heat of the main poolside terrace gets too much. Soothing Ayurvedic therapies are on offer in the little screened spa, and there are croquet sets and cycles for guests. Pushkar Lake, one of the most atmospheric locations in India, lies only a ten-minute drive away.
Our opinion
Comfortable tented accommodation a short drive from Pushkar Lake.
