Kanha National Park

Tiger sightings at Kanha, a day’s journey south of Bandhavgarh, are only marginally less frequent than in other parks in the region. Set amid tracts of sal forest it is one of the largest reserves in India encompasing 1,945 square kilometres and holds several large grassy maidans which have grown up in the fields of abandoned villages. Numerous small pools and a perennial lakes are essential drinking holes for the animals. The long grass provides perfect grazing for the sambar, chital, other deer and antelope on which tigers prey.

Ideally Kanha is visited in the months of October to March.

There is a wide choice of accomodation available here ranging from luxurious lodges to the more modest and eco-friendly camps. Some may have swimming and even spas attached to them.
