Orchha, North & Central India, India
Rising from the rocky banks of the Betwa River, this waterfront retreat was built in the 1990s to resemble an old palace. Focussed on a delightful quadrangular lawned garden, the hotel has the feel of a royal guest house in charismatic decline.
Its rooms are simply furnished with whitewashed walls, hand-woven dhurries on the floors and paddle fans overhead. Some have spacious verandas facing the river where you can enjoy the sunset over the water; others face the secluded pool, wrapped in a curtain of leafy greenery.
Our opinion
Simple character accommodation overlooking the Betwa river.
