The city of Kampong Thom is a bustling and commercial destination to visit. Across the Stung Sen River spans the old French bridge and a new steel bridge from 1997 which was built with Australian assistance.
In terms of monuments and cultural sites, Kampong Thom offers various options for visitors. These include the nearby Bird Sanctuary where locals live in floating houses, and temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk where the forest is peppered with brick temples which served as the capital for Upper Chenla in the 7th century.
