Gulbarga town in the state of Karnataka, south-west India, is where you can explore the fort and tombs of the Bahmani kings. The town is also well connected by rail to the cities of Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, making it a good tour destination.

Highlights incude the Shrine of Saint Sharana Basaveshwara, Gulbarga Fort, and Khwaja Bande Nawaz Durgah. The Shrine of Saint Sharana Basaveshwara holds an annual fair which lasts for two weeks, and pays respect to the Hindu religious teacher and philosopher who supported religious and social equality.

Gulbarga Fort, which was built by Raja Gulchand, has 15 impressive towers and 26 guns, one of which measures 25 feet in length. It showcases ancient Islamic architecture, built by the Bahmani kings.

Khwaja Bande Nawaz Durgah is a tomb of the great Sufi saint, Khwaja Syed Mohammed Gesu. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style and features paintings on the walls, with art influences from Iran and Turkey. The Durgah Library on site houses just under 10,000 books in Persian, Urdu, and Arabic.
