This diverse winter tour combines China's most treasured and iconic monuments in Beijing and Xian with Harbin's unique and increasingly grand Ice Festival.
Giant’s castles, mythical monsters, domed palaces, sky-scrapers, Portuguese cathedrals and Russian Orthodox churches, all made of ice and illuminated in gaudy colours against a background of exploding fireworks... You couldn’t make it up. A visit to Harbin’s Ice Festival is like entering an alien world. Many such events are held in the far northeast each winter, but this is by far the largest and most entertaining.
Just remember to wrap up warm. Night time temperatures plummet to minus 22°C and below!
